Tess Eidem, Ph.D. Principal Investigator
I trained as a microbiologist and biochemist before spending several years in cannabis-industry leadership roles (Director of Science, Willow Industries; Laboratory Manager, Columbia Care), work that took me into dozens of cultivation and processing facilities across three countries and defined the occupational exposure and product quality questions I study now. I returned to academic research at CU Boulder, where my lab is funded by two active NIH awards. I'm also a founding member of Intrepid Scientific, an independent GMP and ISO/IEC 17025 compliance consulting group serving cannabis, hemp, food, and pharmaceutical labs and manufacturers.
Jamie Toth Data Analyst
Jamie Toth brings over two decades of data engineering, architecture, and analytics experience across complex, enterprise healthcare systems. Specializing in cross-hospital and multi-tenant reporting, her collaborative work on standardizing pediatric clinical data is a widely recognized resource available via PubMed Central (PMC).
Today, Jamie channels her technical expertise into the nonprofit and academic research sectors. Her work focuses on establishing rigorous data governance frameworks within emerging industries — specifically legal cannabis — to combat misinformation and consumer fraud. By curating novel, aggregated datasets of public cannabis product recalls, she investigates regulatory efficacy, identifying systematic gaps and informing evidence-based consumer safety policy.
